Ayurvedic ear oil
I first heard about this ear oil from my lecturer John Duillard who's an Ayurvedic doctor and a wellness celebrity.
I totally smilled at the visual in my mind of his 6 children lying down on their left side to have this oil dropped into their right ears and then all of them turning over to the other side to have it dropped into their left ears!
He said his children never fall sick because amongst the other things they do, ear oil tops the list, especially during the times season changes.
The science of Ayurveda places a lot of importance on the change of seasons and how as the environment goes through immense change, we as part of nature also experience change - in our moods, in how we feel and also in our bodies.
This ear oil is a fascinating remedy that so many people swear by, for keeping themselves and their kids healthy.
I had been wanting to try it for a long time and then finally decided I'll give it a go today. So here's how I made it:
1/3cup extra virgin olive oil
1 clove of garlic - chopped
Place the oil on low heat. When it's warm add in the garlic pieces. Let it simmer for a few minutes until the oil stops bubbling.
Strain and place in a dropper bottle.
To use tilt your head to the side and let in a few drops in one ear and after 3-5 minutes tilt to the other side and add a few drops there.
Some people recommend it daily, hourly if you're sick or weekly if you're doing it only to maintain your immunity. I haven't figured out the frequency of this for myself yet but soon will. Now I am going over to my bathroom to get this started!
Have you tried ear oil ever? How was your experience?
